Sherry Hinman is a freelance writer/editor and the owner of The Write Angle. During her 14 years working in hospitals, she wrote corporate publications extensively, first as a speech-language pathologist and later as a professional practice leader.
She specializes in writing and editing in both the technical and consumer sides of the health industry. She is a published author of over 100 articles in magazines and newspapers, locally, nationally and internationally. Clients include Canadian Red Cross, American Red Cross, Rogers Publishing, and Humber College, and she is a past contributing editor of magazines for Metroland York Region.
Sherry’s degrees in linguistics and speech-language pathology enabled her to develop a combined expertise in health and language. She also has her editing certificate. Sherry is aCertified Structural and Stylistic Editor and is working her way through the Certified Professional Editor designation by the Editors’ Association of Canada.
In addition to writing and editing, Sherry is also a teacher at Durham College and the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centres. She is a member of the Editors’ Association of Canada, a professional member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, past president of The Writers’ Circle of Durham Region, and past chair of the Ontario Writers’ Conference.
